Now the fun…
We drove to Chicago because our sons live in southern Ontario and we visited them and our grandchildren along the way. After checking in at the hotel on the Thursday evening, we dined at the House of Blues restaurant, Crossroads. The performer was amazing, and just a taste of what was in store for us, in this amazing city! That night we enjoyed a welcome reception and orientation with complimentary drink tickets.
Our first full day, was spent by and on the water, Chicago River and Lake Michigan. Starting with a complimentary hot breakfast, the day continued with a workout in the Fitness Centre (200 cal on the treadmill), and a walk around the neighbourhood. Found this cute little restaurant overlooking Chicago River and watched the water traffic go by, despite the freezing temperatures and snow outside.
The Harbour Cruise
The harbour cruise was the absolute highlight, with stunning views of Chicago’s skyline, delicious buffet, bottomless Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s, and entertainment!
The Dining Perk
After a freshen-up, we headed to Prosecco’s for a late dinner and used our DreamTrip App for the first time to earn 37 DT$ (Dream Trip Dollars), to apply to our next DreamTrip! We were amazed at the quick and easy process, and are delighted that this dining perk is now available in Toronto, and soon will be coming to Ottawa and other Canadian cities.
Hop-on-Hop-off Bus
Our second day in Chicago was spent on the land, enjoying the Hop-on-Hop-off bus where we were entertained for 2+ hours by the tour guide, as we learned about the city, its history, as well as famous people and places.
Leaving Chicago
Leaving Chicago was also an adventure since our GPS went crazy, bouncing signals off all the tall skyscrapers downtown. When we finally got out of the downtown area, and got a reliable signal, we were on our way back home to share our amazing experience with our friends and relatives. Already looking at our next Dream Trip.
